The band was founded in Tampere, Finland, already in the 1970s,
then by the name of Gandalf. However, because of the recent
fame of the J.R.R. Tolkien Lord of the Rings trilogy, and not
to look like they utilise the fame of the books and the films,
they have now changed their name to The Urban Crow.
In the 1980s the band went into hibernation from doing regular
gigs - the members finished their studies and went into regular
employment. However, active playing has continued and the band
has made recordings in their own home studio.
All the members have always been true Beatles fans and 2004 the band started doing The Beatles tribute gigs. 2005 Urban Crow made a most successful debut in the Liverpool Beatle Week. 2007 was the premier of Beatles Forever Revue and the shows are going on during 2008.

The
Urban Crow to Liverpool Beatle Week 2005!
The planned festival programme differs slightly from that normally
performed by visiting bands in Liverpool. Instead of all-time
biggest Beatles hits, such songs will be performed as In My
Life, She's Leaving Home, A Day in the Life, Let It Be, Come
Together, Lady Madonna and No Reply. These will be complemented
by classic songs by Procol Harum - A Salty Dog, A Whiter Shade
of Pale, Homburg and Grand Hotel. And Liverpool Song, of course.
The song is the boys' homage to the home city of the Beatles,
written as a result of their first visit to the Beatle Week
in 2001.

A Successful Debute in Liverpool Beatle Week 2005

The Urban Crow's first visit to Liverpool as a performing
band was an unforgettable event
for all the band members.
Six gigs, and three of them in the legendary Cavern, several
encores, new
devoted fans...
The band would like to thank all the fantastic people who
were working in the Beatle Week
organization and in the Cavern
as well as our good old friends and brand new fans who
cheered
us on to do the best we could and even a bit more.

In one Cavern gig (Sunday August 28th) The Finnish Rock Legend
Jussi Raittinen joined
The Urban Crow as Special Guest Star
for four songs. Jussi Raittinen has recorded Beatles
songs
in Finnish already in the early sixties. He is one of the
most famous Finnish rock artists.
