The band was founded in Tampere, Finland, already in the 1970s, then by the name of Gandalf. However, because of the recent fame of the J.R.R. Tolkien Lord of the Rings trilogy, and not to look like they utilise the fame of the books and the films, they have now changed their name to The Urban Crow.
In the 1980s the band went into hibernation from doing regular gigs - the members finished their studies and went into regular employment. However, active playing has continued and the band has made recordings in their own home studio.
All the members have always been true Beatles fans and 2004 the band started doing The Beatles tribute gigs.  2005 Urban Crow made a most successful debut in the Liverpool Beatle Week.  2007 was the premier of Beatles Forever Revue and the shows are going on during 2008.

Here are some videos. The first one is Liverpool Song, in the next one you'll see
Urban Crow playing at The Cavern during Beatle Week 2005 in Liverpool. The third

With a little help from my friends I've collected these phrases and edited them together. On these video clips you´ll meet:
- Geoff Nugent, the guitar player and vocalist of a legendary Liverpudlian group called The Undertakers
- Alan Williams, the ex-manager of The Beatles: He was the one who took them over to Hamburg.
- Esa and Anna-Maija Mikkonen from Dublin
- Jussi Raittinen, Finnish Rock Legend
- Roy, our bus driver during our Liverpool visits
- Charming lady - born in Liverpool - working at a hotel in Karpathos, Greece
- Rory Best (brother of Pete Best), author and owner of Casbah Coffee Club
- Graham Paisley, verger of St. Peter's Church and the Church Hall, where John Lennon and Paul McCartney met for the first time
- Group of very nice British people in the backyard of Casbah Club
- American gentleman visiting Beatle Week as he does every year
- Tapio and Heikki Pajunen (in Ye Cracke)
- Maiju, the piano player of our band and her friend Mari (near the village of Olympos)

Cheers to everybody, it was great that you took part in this effort :-) I don't know all the names (or full names) of the persons appearing on the video. If you'd like to add your name or if you have any other comment, please mail to me: tapani.lepomaki@theurbancrow.com

All the best to all of you!
