The band was founded in Tampere, Finland, already in the 1970s, then by the name of Gandalf. However, because of the recent fame of the J.R.R. Tolkien Lord of the Rings trilogy, and not to look like they utilise the fame of the books and the films, they have now changed their name to The Urban Crow.
In the 1980s the band went into hibernation from doing regular gigs - the members finished their studies and went into regular employment. However, active playing has continued and the band has made recordings in their own home studio.
All the members have always been true Beatles fans and 2004 the band started doing The Beatles tribute gigs.  2005 Urban Crow made a most successful debut in the Liverpool Beatle Week.  2007 was the premier of Beatles Forever Revue and the shows are going on during 2008.

What’s new?

Urban Crow’s Beatles Forever Revue performances in Tampere Hall 25.-26.1. 2008 were A Real Beatles Tribute Event!  All the tickets were sold out almost a month in advance.  And the atmosphere in both of the shows was most enthusiastic.  For those who did not got the ticket, we are glad and proud to tell that two more shows will take place in Tampere Hall next September.  Reserve your tickets in time!

The Urban Crow has been invited to The International Beatle Week in Liverpool August from 20th to 26th.  The band will give several gigs in Liverpool.  This will be the bands second visit in Liverpool and The Cavern.  The first one was in the year 2005. Our Beatle Week dates are:

Friday 22nd 9pm, Cavern Pub
Saturday 23rd 2pm, Cavern Club
Saturday 23rd 6pm, Cavern Club
Sat/Sun 24th 1am, Cavern Pub
Sunday 24th 1pm, Adelphi Hotel, Crosby Suite
Sunday 24th 6pm, Cavern Club
Monday 25th 2pm, Cavern Club

In The Beatle Week 2008 Urban Crow will be accompanied by a good mate of the band Seppo Tammilehto, who will join the line-up during some of the gigs.  Seppo has worked quite a lot with the band during the last two years and he also is the producer of Beatles Forever Revue.  In addition to his solo career Seppo is going to continue the co-operation with Urban Crow.  Several gigs together (e.g. Aitoon Kirkastusjuhlat in July) will be made.

New single record by The Urban Crow featuring Seppo Tammilehto ”Joko lähdetään” was launched in January 2008.  The lyrics are in Finnish, which will be most interesting for all the foreign fans :-).  See Tapani’s interview by Discopress about the single and invitation to Beatle Week 2008

The song Joko lähdetään (by Urban Crow featuring Seppo Tammilehto) will be published in Seppo's solo album Käsittele varoen (Handle With Care).  The album will be lauched March 15th.  Seppo and Urban Crow will perform together on several occasions during the spring and summer 2008.
